Energy is an important factor for civilization. Since the Industrial Revolution occurred in 1973, our living standard and environment have been changed significantly due to the progress of science and technology, and this progress is attributed to the applications of energy. Energy plays a crucial role in improving the economic situation of a country. In the last several decades, on account of the fluctuation of oil price, diminishing of fossil fuel reserves, global warming and climate change, and pronounced development of renewable energy, the spread of energy knowledge has become an important issue. This book presents the types of fuel and illustrates the development of current and prospective energies. The contents in this book include energy introduction, fossil fuel, nuclear fuel, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydropower, marine energy, bioenergy, hydrogen and fuel cell, power technology, and energy and environment. Moreover, the current energy situation in Taiwan is also addressed for the purpose of establishing readers’ energy knowledge and vision.
